How is it different from cost per wear?
Cost per wear divides by every wear and rewards daily-driver items. Cost per season divides by seasons of service and fairly prices things that only work part of the year — coats, boots, swimwear, occasionwear.
How many seasons should I assume?
Count a season as one weather window (one winter, one summer). Quality basics and outerwear commonly serve 4–8 seasons; fast-fashion trend pieces often do not survive two. Being pessimistic gives a more useful number.
